I have an account in the US and my spouse has an account in Japan (identified as the Japan region), so can we still use family sharing or does one account have to be shifted to the other region to make it work?

Since apps and other content are country specific, the Apple IDs from all members have to be registered for the same region/country
Can you use Family Sharing if you are in two different regions?
