Voice messages not auto-downloading

Why do my incoming voices messages not download automatically although my iPhone is connected to wifi/cellular?

I’m sharing my ‘storage & data’ settings SS from Whatsaap below. I have to download each voice message before being able to listen to it no matter if I am inside the conversation.

That wasn’t even my concern what you told me, restarting my device. The voice messages have no problem in being listened to. They just don’t get auto downloaded when I’m connected to the Wi-Fi. Although I have set the settings such that the voice messages will download automatically when connected to Wi-Fi.

Thanks for connecting with us here in Apple Support Communities. It appears that you're having some issues with listening to audio messages while using WhatsApp. Have you tried restarting your device since noticing this behavior? See: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support


"How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, or 13

  1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.

The volume button is located on the left side of the device, and the side button is located on the right2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.

3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."
