Itunes thinking phone in recovery mode

anyone run into issue with itunes thinking that my iphone 12 is in recovery mode, but the phone is working just fine. I can’t backup the phone to the computer now.

Reboot the phone and try again. If possible backup to iCloud in addition to iTunes in case the iTunes backup doesn't want to restore if/when the time comes.

Rebooted, wiped and restored, various other things, but itunes still thinks i need to restore the phone

Itunes is version 12.12.5.8 and iphone is 15.7

So the newest version of iTunes then. iOS 16 is out now so you might consider updating. Might be a big enough reset to clear whatever flag iTunes is picking up on.
