Invalid card error with Apple pay

Earlier today I had to unpair my Apple watch from my phone. After I paired it again one of my cards would not add. I kept getting the Invalid card error. I contacted the credit card company and the agent was absolutely not helpful and basically said I should be able to add the card. So I thought maybe i needed to remove it from my phone and add it back then add it to my watch. Now I can't add it to my phone. I had this card on my phone and watch before I unpaired the watch.

Anyone have any ideas to help me?

Hi there s49,

If you are unable to add a card to use with Apple Pay, these steps from If you can't add a card to Apple Wallet to use with Apple Pay may resolve this issue:

1. Check that you're able to use Apple Pay:
• Contact your card issuer to see if they support Apple Pay.
• Update to the latest version of iOS or iPadOSwatchOS, or macOS.
• Make sure that you are in a supported country or region.
• Check that your device is compatible with Apple Pay.
2. Check for services outages or connection issues.
3. If you see the message "Could Not Add Card" or "Invalid Card," contact your bank or card issuer.

Apple does not approve or decline cards for use with Apple Pay. If your card was declined, contact your bank or card issuer.

If this continues after following those steps, our Apple Pay Support would be the best equipped to assist further. Contact them here: Apple Pay Support
