Kernel panics while asleep

Hi all,

I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020) running Monterey 12.6 where I'm getting a kernel panic about every other night while the computer is asleep, starting a week or 2 ago. I was hoping the 12.5 -> 12.6 upgrade would fix it, but no dice. I've recorded three of the error reports so far and 2 of them were the same, so here are 2 different reports I've seen. Thanks!

The errors mention the smb file system. Have you tried turning off all file sharing in the Sharing preferences? Also, if you are connected to a server, disconnect from the server before sleeping the Mac. See if either of these helps with this issue. It could well be something else but the message "last started kext at 885442496412: com.apple.filesystems.smbfs" is suggestive. Maybe a red herring but worth investigating.

Unless you have tasks which need to run over night I suggest you get into the habit of regularly shutting down your mac. In the meantime try restarting in Safe Mode followed by a normal restart.

I have had my M1 iMac for over a year now and I shut it down overnight ( and during the day if I don't need to go back to it) and I've upgrade from Big Sur to Monterey and all its iterations and I've never had a kernel panic or other unfixable problems. Do you have any antivirus or cleanup apps installed, these can cause such problems and should be uninstalled.
