My fiancé’s iPhone 11 Pro pairs but won’t connect to Appletv. We have followed the steps as directed. Even removed his phone from the list on the AppleTV but when he opens the remote app on his phone it just cycles thru “Connecting” and then just goes back to the “Choose a Room” menu.

It’s not an app. In settings —> Control Panel you can add Apple TV Remote. Then when you pull down from top right corner the remote icon is there. However, when he went thru the steps to pair his iPhone 11 Pro it sees the phone, gives the 4 digit code but then when he tries to select which AppleTv to control it just spins on “Connecting” and then nothing
I’m having a similar issue for 7 months. My Apple 4k TV pairs with my iPhone but the Apple TV app on my phone doesn’t connect to the tv. I’ve tried everything: restarting both, updating both, removing and reading devices, restoring and still no use. I was hoping apple would fix this in their last two updates for both the iPhone and Apple TV but neither has helped. I have an iPhone 13 so I don’t know why there is any issue with pairing, I wish the previous Apple TV remote app was still available as the latest integrated remote app is very limiting and obviously glitchy. I hope Apple corrects this soon as it’s almost been a year and I’ve been unable to control my Apple TV with my phone, it’s very frustrating when I lose my remote.
choose a room ? This sounds like the Apple App from App Store called Apple Home for home automation.
