Group Messages not showing in iMessage when addressing a text?

I just updated to iOS 16 and did not have this problem until the update. iPhone 13.

When I try to create a new iMessage and I try to address it to a previously named group chat, the group name won’t appear as an option. I can text in the groupchat itself when I am in the messages app by clicking on the thread, but I can’t get the group to pop up when I try to start the message from scratch or from sharing a link in safari, or chrome.

Hey mad151,

We'd be happy to help out. We can certainly understand the concern if you're unable to start new messages with your group chat without going to the thread in the Messages app.

If you haven't yet restarted your device, we'd suggest doing so and testing further. If you continue to have this issue, do you have another group chat you can test this with or is this the only one? We ask to see if this is affecting all group chats or just this particular one. If you create a new group chat, does the behavior persist?
