System Extension Error - error occurred with your system extensions

Hi,

I just did a software update to 12.6 Monterey on a Macbook pro M1.

This is a recurring error; the error appears on start up:

"An error occurred with your system extensions during startup and they need to be rebuilt before they can be used. Please go to Security & Privacy System Preferences to re-enable them."

I'm unsure of what to do next. In looking at Security & Privacy System Preferences, I do not see any "!" marks or anything else that would indicate that something is amiss.

See etrecheck report below:

Thank you for your help.

Yannick

Your best bet would be to uninstall the kernel extensions and reinstall them.

Are you actually using them?

You have an NTFS driver for writing to Windows formatted drives and Samsung DevGuru which I think is for writing apps for android devices. Maybe it is just for syncing with Android devices.

I don't see any NTFS drives attached. Do you regularly share files with a Windows PC using an external drive?

Follow the developer's instructions to remove both, then reinstall what you need.

Thanks for your reply Barney.

I am actually very new to MacOs world.. Windows user here :)

I have no clue on which kernel extension to remove nor how to remove them, although I think I managed to solve the problem.

NTFS driver is from Tuxera which I have uninstalled and which fixed the problem. I guess the recent software update to Monterey 12.6 created a compatibility problem.

I've been using Tuxera NTFS as my external hard drive is NTFS format and I'm using both Mac and PC. I've noticed that there were some files getting corrupted and used another hard drive which I formatted in ex-FAT to be safe. Hence I don't need Tuxera NTFS anymore.

Uninstalled the software which solved the issue but there is still the kernel extension which I cannot seem to remove/delete. Any advice?

PS: Samsung DevGuru isn't for writing apps for android. I installed Samsung Dex which is a Samsung app to mirror your phone on a computer.

Basics of installing anything: If it comes from an installer, you should used the uninstaller provided by the developer. If there isn't an uninstaller, there should be at least some instructions. If there are neither, you should never install that software.

The uninstaller should have removed the kernel extension.

It should be in /Library/Extensions. Can you not delete it from there?
