Card issuer could not authenticate card.

I've been trying to make a purchase through the Apple UK Education site, and every time I've reached the payment stage, a message has flashed up stating that "Your card issuer could not authenticate the use of the card".

I've repeatedly checked my details and contacted my bank, who cannot see any evidence of a declined payment and say there is no problem with my card.

What's more, I've been able to use the same card and details to pay for apps on the App Store without issue.
