second monitor mac air

is there absolutely no way to have a second monitor connected to a mac air? what if only two monitors were used (for a larger display) and the laptop was closed but running?

Hey there emilyfromraleigh,

It sounds like you want to know if you are able to use additional displays with your MacBook Air. Checking Connect a display to your Mac was a great idea. Taking a closer look at MacBook Air (M2, 2022) - Technical Specifications shows,

Display Support

Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display at 1 billion colors and:
One external display with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz
Thunderbolt 3 digital video output
Native DisplayPort output over USB‑C
VGA, HDMI, DVI, and Thunderbolt 2 output supported using adapters (sold separately)

However, if you have a MacBook Air (M1, 2020), then the Tech Specs show only one display can be connected:

Display Support
Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display at millions of colors and:
One external display with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz
Thunderbolt 3 digital video output
Native DisplayPort output over USB-C
VGA, HDMI, DVI, and Thunderbolt 2 output supported using adapters (sold separately)
