iPhone 13 Mini keeps switching audio output during phone calls

Why does my iPhone keep switching audio output during a phone call? If I initiate a call using my phone, it shouldn't try to switch to a Bluetooth device mid-call. This is happening constantly and is very frustrating during work conference calls. How can I stop this from happening? I've already tried to reboot multiple times and have updated to the latest software.

Hello williamssa2,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re having issues with your audio switching to a Bluetooth device during a call. I’ll be happy to help with this.

Apple has info on how to bypass your Bluetooth device for calls. 'To use the iPhone receiver or speaker for calls, do any of the following:

  • Answer a call by tapping the iPhone screen.
  • During a call, tap Audio, then choose iPhone or Speaker Phone.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth device, unpair it, or move out of range.
  • Go to Settings , tap Bluetooth, then turn off Bluetooth.'

You can read more about this here:

Connect Bluetooth devices to iPhone

Another option would be disconnect from your Bluetooth accessories from Control Center. 'When you toggle the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth buttons in Control Center, your device immediately disconnects from Wi-Fi and Bluetooth accessories. Both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth will continue to be available, so you can use important features.' Take a look at this article for more details:

Use Bluetooth and Wi-Fi in Control Center

We hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, this does not work on my phone. I can answer the call on my phone and it will still try to randomly connect to a bluetooth device during the call! My old iPhone never used to do this. If I answered on my old phone, the call would stay on my phone, which is the way it should work. For your second suggestion, I have toggled between phone and speakerphone, but it will still randomly try to connect to a bluetooth device. As far as suggestion three and four, I feel like I really shouldn't need to do this... I want to keep the bluetooth device connected for when I want to use it. I just don't want the phone to keep trying to switch to it when I pick up the call on my phone. If there's any way to fix this, I'd greatly appreciate knowing how! Thank you.
