Upload photos to my iPad from a PC

Seems pretty simple, and yet I cannot find a simple way to do this. Used to be simple on iPad4. I now have an ipad8. I don't want to sync and I don't want to use the cloud. Just simply upload some photos to the iPad. Please tell me there is a simple way.

iPad, iPadOS 15

See >>> Transfer files between your PC and devices with iTunes - Apple Support

You you will need to install Apple iTunes and/or iCloud for Windows. You can install and use both on the PC - as they will happily coexist - and provide considerable flexibility in how you move/share/transfer/manage data, photos and other documents between iPad and Apple devices.

iTunes for Windows

Download and use iTunes for Windows – Apple Support

iCloud for Windows

Download iCloud for Windows – Apple Support

Set up and use iCloud for Windows – Apple Support

You can install and use both on the PC. They will happily coexist - and provide considerable flexibility in how you move/share/transfer photos and other documents and data between iPad, iPhone and your PC.

An alternative strategy might be to consider file transfer between your Windows PC and iPad using a simple USB Thumb Drive or other USB Storage device. If your iPad has a Lightning connector, you’ll need an Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter:

Any good quality Thumb Drive will do the job admirably. Of the many good quality drives that are available, perhaps consider SanDisk:

Don’t forget, if your iPad has a Lightning connector, you’ll need an Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter:

iTunes for Windows has no reliance upon iCloud. When using iTunes for Windows, you make connection with your iPad via a direct USB connection between iPad and the PC.

You cannot use Windows Explorer to move files between iPad and PC because of iPad’s secure (encrypted) filesystem - which the PC (or other computers) cannot access without a software “bridge”; iTunes for Windows provides the necessary interface.

For “simple”, just use a USB Thumb Drive.

To be recognised by iPadOS, the SD Card or connected USB storage device must be formatted to FAT, FAT32, exFAT, APFS or HFS+ with a single partition. Microsoft NTFS and other proprietary device formatting are not supported.

Formatting and partitioning, if required, must be performed using a separate computer; iPad does not provide any facilities to format an external storage device.
