Mail is stopping Mac Book Air from shut down, mail also will not open via icon
How to shut down mail so I can shut down MacBook Air , message states mail is preventing shut down

Are you able to force quit the mail application by right clicking over it? If not you may have to force shut down your laptop by holding the power button until your screen goes black and restarting it.
