M1 Macbook Air cursor flickering and vibrating. very unstable.

I've noticed that when I move my cursor, it starts flickering and feels like it's vibrating. It does not become stable until it feels like it or I have left it alone.  I saw a previous thread, however the solution provided did not work for me.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.5

Hello chantaé,

When you note that things feel like they're vibrating, are you referring to the Mac's trackpad or the on-screen behavior of the cursor?

Does restarting the Mac seem to help? Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support

Restart your Mac
•On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Restart.

Starting the Mac up into safe mode can also help with ruling out various items that may be conflicting. This page has info on that: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.
Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar) are off.
2. Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears.
3. Select a volume.
4. Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode.
The computer restarts automatically. When the login window appears, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

Cheers.

Thanks for getting back to us, chantaé. It’s appreciated.

Have you had a chance to try safe mode yet? How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support -- Safe mode may help resolve your issue. Here’s why:

Safe mode prevents your Mac from loading certain software as it starts up, including login items, system extensions not required by macOS, and fonts not installed by macOS. It also does a basic check of your startup disk, similar to using First Aid in Disk Utility. And it deletes some system caches, including font caches and the kernel cache, which are automatically created again as needed.

Once you’ve had a chance to test in safe mode, restart your Mac normally to exit. If the issue didn’t occur while in safe mode, test again after a normal restart.

Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support -- If the issue happens while your Mac was in safe mode, or continued after a normal restart, please create a new Administrator account and test the issue there. Once you’ve created the new Admin account, log out of your own, then log into the new one and test. This step will help us determine if the issue is isolated to your own account or if it’s system-wide.

Please let us know the results when you're able.

All the best.
