I want to search for specific songs in my music library but when I enter an artist or song in the search box, it sends me to Itunes. This is a recent problem, since getting a new computer and updating to Monterey, and I don't know what's causing it. It's infuriating...I want to make playlists of my music but can't search for songs I know I have. Help!

Thank you so much! At first I tried to do that, but that option plus two others were greyed out in View. I shut down Music, and when I reopened it, "Show Filter Field" and the others reappeared. Yay! Thanks again!
View > Show Filter Field. This creates a new search bar at the upper right that behaves in the expected fashion.
Boogie, Sometimes clearing the main search bar helps View > Show Filter Filed to get un-grayed.
