Deleted entire text thread

Soooo….3-4 days ago I fell asleep with my ph in my hand, opened up to my messages. My Son’s messages are pinned so it’s up top with other “pinned people”, above the time ordered messages….somehow I hit his “face”😢 and deleted ( NOT unpinned, that’d be too simple 😒) the entire thread of texts between us that went back over three years at least….I have my IPhone SE set to save everything to cloud every night….last upload was last night….and every night before that…please tell me how to retrieve this thread back. I’ve done some searching online but when I go to do what it says- in one of the beginning steps it shows all the devices connected to my Apple account and 2 of them are older(can’t be updated past a certain point) one being my mini iPad (I use it everyday, 10 years old and going strong) and one is my old IPhone 7( also won’t update to latest Apple software, I still have it but it’s not charged and I don’t use it) I keep it for the stuff that’s on it. Anyways…the instructions call for me to log out of these two items before it will allow me to move forward…I’m afraid if I do that, log off or delete them from account, I’ll LOSE everything on THOSE devices …. I’m not even sure where I stored/put my old Iph so that’s an issue and then like I said, I use my mini everyday- it’s the only “computer” I own and I can’t risk losing it too! Am I overthinking all this? Will I even lose access or whatever to my devices if I remove them from my Apple account. I REALLY have to have the text thread between me and my Son…it’s priceless and irreplaceable. Suggestions? Ideas? Help? As an aside- I’m not super tech savvy so laymen terms would be much appreciated 😊 Thanks yal!!!!

go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud and check the switch position for Messages

If the switch is ON, then you cannot recover your deleted messages and they are not contained in an iPhone backup

(no need to read any further)

If the switch is OFF, then you might be able to recover your messages IF you have an iPhone backup that contains the messages you are trying to recover. In which case you'd need to restore your iPhone to that backup. In doing so, you'd likely lose some data between now and whenever your backup occurred.

Keep in mind that if you back up your iPhone to iCloud an are not using messages in iCloud, there is a very limited chance that your backup would contain the text message(s). You would have to restore from your backup before another one is created.. otherwise the new backup would capture that the messages were deleted.

If another backup has already occurred since the message(s) were deleted, then your backup will not contain them.
