You might be able to restore a backup (which is how you got here, based on the Related Article above), if your old Mac and the new Mac can run the same macOS version, but a migration allows your data, apps, files, documents, settings, passwords, and the rest to be migrated from an older Mac to a Mac running a newer or current macOS version.
