Trying to get rid of Apple Music

I apparently received a 6 month free subscription to Apple Music and activated it. I went into Subscriptions and canceled it. However, it shows that it is still good until February 2023.

Is there anyway to remove it completely now. I know that might seem weird but my understanding is that anything I download over the next 6 months will be lost once the subscription ends.

I'm a unique person and actually like to pay for my music, don't judge me. So I would rather pay but now I can't because of Apple music.

Normally cancelling a free subscription is cancelled pronto, unlike cancelling a paid subscription which ends at the expiration date. Music downloaded from the Apple Music sub will disappear when the sub ends, but music purchased will not.

Thank you for the reply. I actually just figured it out. It was for 6 months free and even though I canceled it's good until February. Apple support said they can't cancel it any sooner.

However, I thought I couldn't purchase music anymore because the iTunes store disappeared on the music app on my Mac Mini. After going to preferences I saw the box wasn't checked so after checking it, the iTunes store re-appeared and all is good.
