iphone trade up - what happens to the 2 year applecare I purchased

I am liking the new iPhone 14 but had just purchased a 13 ProMax. I see that I can trade in and get a good credit. What happens to the 2 years of AppleCare that I purchased in advance. Can I transfer it to the new device or get a refund?
