How do you lock your screen or IPhone?

Press the power / sleep button to turn it off. This locks the screen. This is only required for the Automatic overnight backups to happen.

If you want to manually initiate a backup go to Settings->Account (top of settings)->iCloud->iCloud Backup->Backup Now.
