iPad A2. Approximately when iOS 15.6 was installed, my keyboard (especially Microsoft SwiftKey) was made small and immovable. How to overcome this or reverse it?

1. Previously the keyboard was large and at the bottom of the screen. The target area for the keyboard was always movable. Now the keyboard is extremely small, doesn't have multiple character features, and is immovably located at the center right of the screen.

2. Many target screens are themselves completely immovable. This is particularly true of financial websites (causing increased errors and the risk of having the financial account blocked). Other websites (target areas) are movable but only by inserting 11 or 12 blank lines, which subsequently will need to be removed.

3. I complained to Apple 3 ways (phone, online, and postal mail), and they refused to help me.

4. Is there a way to restore the former keyboard situation, or at least to render the new keyboard movable on the screen, or at least to render target screens freely movable around the keyboard?

While Apple Support were unable to translate the described issue to meaningful guidance, I’m delighted to learn that your problem is now (presumably) resolved.

For information, the iPad User Guide is a rich source of information about your iPad and iPadOS. The Guide, regularly updated, is available both online using a web browser (such as Safari), or as an Apple Books download:

You presumably refer to the new Floating Keyboard.

To easily return the new Floating Keyboard to the normal on-screen keyboard presentation, use the two-finger “zoom” gesture (i.e., the reverse of the two-finger “pinch”).

If the Split Keyboard is restored instead of the full on-screen keyboard, you can either use two fingers (one on each of the two half-keyboards) and swipe the two halves together - or touch-and-hold the “keyboard” key, then slide your finger to the Merge & Dock option and release.

Great: Zoom to back-convert, pinch to back-back-convert, and two fingers to move (float).

I don't know to what defect in myself I attribute this lack of knowledge. However I can assure you that 3 Apple support people told me they couldn't help me with this question and that there was no point in making a Genius Bar appointment because the Genius Bar couldn't help me either. Also Apple HQ (reached per USPS) said that the question was too technical and as a general rule they don't reply to technical questions submitted via USPS.
