On iphone named current nearly full tab group, created new group, went back to older tabs and tried to create a new single tab there to add to that group. This resulted in all the tabs being deleted. I never selected delete tabs. Can they be restored other than trying to go thru entire history? Some are very old.

Do you have a current backup of your device when you had this data? You could restore the entire device to that time.
