I have tried my current passwords, as well as all my old passwords and none of them will let me past. I tried changing my password and that didn't work either. Any Ideas?

Has the User Logged into the Admin Account of this computer ?
Has the user Logged Out of any Non Admin Account and back into the Admin Account ?
Verify User Account as True or False
In terminal copy and paste the below command without Quotation Marks
" id -Gn username | grep -q -w admin && echo True || echo False. "
If the $USER is admin then True will result.

An aside - having two Admin Accounts on one computer can be a life saver in certain situations.
The caveat being the " Owner Account " which is normally the first account used to setup the computer as New is required for this action - update.
The added Admin Account is, yes, an Admin account but . . . is exactly that Added and may not carry the same Ownership privileges.
thank you for your help. I had two users both where admin, when you prompted me to check this I went in and made only one the admin and it corrected the issue
