Can I block FaceTime calls from unknowns?

Just got a FaceTime connect request on my iPhone and when I answered, I found myself looking at an unknown young girl, early teens or even pre-teens. Yikes! I quickly broke off the call, but presumably not before she saw me on camera. She tried a couple of times more, with me refusing to answer, and then sent me a text: "Hi Santa Claus I want a pop it".

I now have that number blocked, and I turned off FaceTime completely on all devices (Mac, iPad, iPhone).

Q: Is there any way to auto-reject inbound FaceTime requests from everyone not in my Contacts list?

TIA,

Mark

Hi, lexOS1. Unfortunately, the two suggestions you give solve problems that are different from mine.

  1. I can't know that a caller is unwanted until it's too late.
  2. The problem isn't restricted to any specific time of day.

Unfortunately, I now consider the FaceTime feature to be unusable, and have disabled it on all devices. If someone requests a FaceTime session with me, I can always turn it back on temporarily for that specific purpose.

Thanks for trying,

Mark

Hi Mark92630,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. If you would like to block calls from FaceTime, here are steps to help: Block unwanted callers in FaceTime on iPhone - Apple Support

If the caller is unknown, you can look through using the Screen Time feature to limit communications during specific hours as a work around. Here are a few steps to help:

  1. Go to Settings > Screen Time to view what you can restrict and allow.
  2. Tap Turn On Screen Time to see which settings you can adjust.
  3. Adjust to meet your needs using this link as a guide: Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Have a great day.
