Creating Hyperlinks with iPad

How to make a shortcut key that allows inserting a hyperlink into any selected text on iPad?

When typing in email messages in Gmail, I cannot seem to find a means to insert a hyperlink into a text selection. Instead, I’m forced to simply place the hyperlink (short or long) in the space around the text, making the email harder to read. Then, on top of this, I would rather create a shortcut key that see’s the selected text and opens a window allowing me to then insert the hyperlink. How can this be done.

Hello PC2AppleConvert,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you need some help with adding hyperlinks in iOS Mail. We certainly understand why you'd reach out and we are happy to help!

The creation of a hyperlink, in the manner that you describe (and are accustomed on other operating systems), isn't directly supported in iOS/iPadOS. You can create a direct link to a resource address,, but cannot directly create hyperlinked text in Mail.

You can leave Apple feedback on this here: Product Feedback - Apple

Cheers!
