Inaccurate Compass

Hello, my iPhone's compass is not accurate. I've tried plenty of star navigation apps and they all show sky's objects being southwest from where they actually are. In the Location Services of the Settings, the Compass Calibration is on. So are the other location-related settings (True North, Accurate Location). Any ideas or ways to manually calibrate it?

Turn on the compass then holding the phone outdoors, vertically and firmly in your hand, make rapid vertical figure of 8's while slowly rotating yourself round.

Sounds mad but it usually recalibrates the compass which relies on gps mainly. (Try to do it when nobody is looking!)
