Welcome howell278,

It looks like you joined the Apple Support Communities from an excellent article for the issue you're encountering: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working - Apple Support. Did you have a chance to follow all the steps on this page? If not, definitely start there.

As it shows there, complete the following steps:

  1. Make sure there are no cases, covers, films, or protectors that are covering the camera. If you're using any, remove them and test the front-facing camera without them on, and check to see if it works.
  2. Make sure the camera is cleaned. Clean the front and back camera lenses with a microfiber cloth.
  3. Also, check to see if the issue is present in only the Camera app or other apps that use the front-facing camera. If only certain apps, make sure that both the device and the Apps are up-to-date. Here are some links to help with updates:

If you have completed all these steps and still have an issue, you'll want to contact Apple directly for further support. Here's a list of their support numbers you can call: Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support.

Kind regards!
