Is it possible to unlock an iPhone if I don't remember the password?

I was wondering if it was possible to unlock an iPhone that used to be my brothers in which he doesn't remember his password and I keep connecting it to my MacBook to unlock it but it keeps sending me to diagnostics in which it then says to go to www.apple.com/support.
