Backing up on iCloud

Heeeelp. So my iPhone storage is nearly full but I have lots of iCloud storage bought available.However, I can’t seem to complete a back up. It keeps saying I don’t have enough phone storage to complete a back up. My used up phone space is about 240/256. Wth do I do? Help.

You'll need to delete items from your device to complete a backup.
