Pages: How to break sections apart

Hi all, I'm working in a pages document. I publish a news letter every month. This month, pages is really frustrating. When I need a new page, or more pages I 'Insert section" So the pages aren't connected and I can rearrange them if needed. However, for some reason, sections of this document have joined together without my consent. Now I need to rearrange the order of the pages within the document, and of course the one I need to move is joined to another one that does not need to be moved and must stay put. Can someone please explain how to un join the sections? When I select the page, the "un-join section" is gray and won't work. HELP

Pages are added automatically when you add content.

Choosing the first item under the Insert menu that just says "Section" rather than choosing Section Break will insert a blank page that is in a new section at the cursor. You can separate the pages in a section without adding a new page by placing the cursor where you want the break & selecting Section Break from the Insert menu.

Using "Create a new section" in the Document sidebar (right side) will separate the current page from the previous page. I can only see this as useful if the start of the page was a natural break. Otherwise it might just separate the page in the middle of a sentence.

I don't see any "un-join section" as a choice in any menu or by right-clicking. I also tried searching Pages help for the term & didn't find it.
