Changing phone without unpairing Apple watch

Upgraded to new phone without unpairing my Apple Watch.

I had to change my Apple ID password when I set my new phone up. My Apple Watch cannot be set up on my new phone . It says it’s already paired. I think it’s still paired under my old password on my Apple account but I’ve changed the password and it won’t except the old one
