Unable to boot back into macOS after using boot camp Windows 10 nor perform Recovery

Q: How can I reset my MacBook Pro 2018 back to factory settings while I'm unable to enter the recovery process?

Steps

  • I was happily running macOS (Monterey from memory)
  • I used the Boot Camp Installer to install Windows 10
  • I was using Windows 10 only for a few weeks
  • Now I want to sell my MacBook so I decided to try and reset it
  • Pressing Command-R > It doesn't prompt anything, the system run enters a restart loop
  • Option-Command-R, Option-Shift-Command-R during boot lets me enter the process
  • However I always get a "-1008F" or "-2100F".
  • I've removed the device from my iCloud
  • I've reset the NVRAM
  • I've tried using an ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi
  • I've tried booting from a Monterey Bootable USB drive > I can press 'Option' to select it as a boot option but the system just restarts into a restart loop
  • Selecting 'Option' to boot into Macintosh HD also just enters a restart loop (Apple logo then blank then turns off - repeat)
  • Selecting 'Option' to boot into Window 10 still works fine.

I'd like to hear a solution so I can just reset this back to macOS only. Perhaps via some Windows tool to fix the MBR?

Do you have another Mac? If you've overwritten or bricked recoveryOS, you can use the free Apple Configurator program to restore it - Revive or restore an Intel-based Mac using Apple Configurator - Apple Support
