Trying to connect my 32 bit canon printer to my updated iMac desktop? Will this work or will I have to update my printer?

What year model iMac and macOS is it running?

What brand and model is the printer?

What happens when you try and add the printer?

If the printer driver is 32 bit it won't run on anything Catalina or newer. Then you will have to update.

It's a long shot but try the open-source and free Gutenprint print driver. Check this page to see if your printer is supported: Gutenprint Supported Printers.
