Whenever I delete AOL emails they keep coming back from the server. I have tried booting in Safe Mode and no difference. I searched extensively for solutions without success. HELP please I have around 4000 emails that won’t delete. If it is any help before I updated to Monterey this issue did not happen. I have also done a reset to factory settings. My laptop is an Apple MacBook Air
Thank You, this suggestion worked and for small numbers of emails the delete remained permanent. This got me thinking that if the emails were permanently deleted at the AOL server using a web browser then there should be no source information for Mail on my MacBook Air to keep re-listing them. This worked! and when I logged back into Mail on my MacBook they had all gone. So it must be an idiosyncrasy of AOL & Mail using OS Monterey that prevents deleting of large number of emails. Thank you for your helpful suggestion and I have now achieved what I wished for; deleted 4000 odd emails permanently.
Try deleting a few at a time, give it a couple of hours, then see if they are gone. If not, then you choose "Rebuild" under the "Mailbox" Menu in Mail (bottom of he menu).
