Apple Mail Sent this email to Unsubscribe

Hi I am really hoping someone can help me,

without giving out to much information I found this in a family members email, I did not think about it until, I recognized the number, 6 months ago this phone number was found on my iPad as a recovery phone number, no one owns this number in my family, my iPad has since been locked my this phone number.

Does this mean a family member is sending this to someone asking to find out who is behind the number. of it is sent to a email full of numbers and letters. There are also multiple of these going back months, confirming purchase items etc…so confused? Someone help with info.

Hi Irishlad73,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you may have received some spam or phishing emails. These emails are not from Apple. You can identify these kinds of emails using the following guidance from Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support.

"How to identify fraudulent emails and messages

Scammers try to copy email and text messages from legitimate companies to trick you into giving them your personal information and passwords. These signs can help you identify phishing emails:

  • The sender’s email or phone doesn’t match the name of the company that it claims to be from.
  • The email or phone they used to contact you is different from the one that you gave that company.
  • A link in a message looks right, but the URL doesn’t match the company’s website.2
  • The message looks significantly different from other messages that you’ve received from the company.
  • The message requests personal information, like a credit card number or account password.
  • The message is unsolicited and contains an attachment."

Take care.
