I try to put a digital certificate and the keychain application does not allow it, it emits a system root error

You would usually install the certificate into your local keychain.


Here is how this is intended to work:


Add certificates to a keychain using Keychain Access on Mac - Apple Support


Contact the folks that issued the certificate for assistance.


They may well require an update to a more recent version of macOS, as macOS 10.13 is quite old, and supported.


MacBook Air Mid 2012 can upgrade to Catalina, and newer MacBook Air models can upgrade further.
