Progress bar window didn't appear when copying

Hello,

I copied a 500GB file from the internal HDD (Fusion Drive) to an external drive (Finder windows drag and drop). Surprizingly the small window which normally shows the copying progress didn't appear, but it seems the file got copied after some hours. Because of the missing progress bar, I couldn't cancel (x) the process. I never ever saw something like that! Why did this happen? Because of this irregularity, could it be that the copied file is defective? (it was meant to be a backup)

Thank you.

Thanks. I did that, rebooted and copied the large file again (to another drive) and this time without a problem.

So I assume this second copy is OK, but the question remains, is the first one too?

I could delete it and copy it again, but it would take many hours, so I would prefer to avoid it...

So was this only a "display issue" or could it have had consequences for the integrity of the resulting copy?
