Apple Mail Drag & Drop
Drag and drop files creates a inetloc file. Save as works fine but drag and drop was better, saves time by dropping in different folders. Is there a fix for this?
thanks!

I also find the result is inconsistent. I'll open the email one time and when I drag and drop a pdf (or any attachment) to the desktop I'll get the inetloc file. The next time I'll drag a pdf file. The next time, either. You can alway tell if you'll get an inetloc file if the icon your dragging along is tall and skinny and looks like a horizontally compressed. version of your file. BTW I get the same behavior on iOS 15 when I try to copy and paste attachments between emails. sometime yes sometimes no. To be sure I have to save to Files and then attach.
Have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac?
What are you dragging/dropping? And to where?
Pdfs. jpgs. png. any attachments.
Also sometimes when I drag and drop ic downloads as a text clipping.
I have not. Straight Apple configuration
BTW I just upgraded to 12.6 and I can't reproduce the problem at the moment. Maybe fixed?
I cleaned up using disk utility. no third party apps. I only have adobe and Mac apps.
