trying to get mp3 downloads on mac to apple music on phone

Currently trying to transfer a music download from my mac to iPhone but when I drag the file to my phone via the apple music app it doesn't do anything. I tried doing this in finder as well by just dragging the file to my phone but still no result.

Any help would be appreciated
