My wife has a late 2014 27" iMac. She's running Big Sur 11.6.5. Everything she's read says she shouldn't upgrade to Monetary with a computer this old. However she's very concerned with this newly reported OS vulnerability and is wondering what she should do.
Can she safely upgrade to Monterey and know her computer will work well and not be too slow or is there an anti-virus anti-malware program she could run like Avast that will protect her.

Thank you. There's a problem. We've closed all apps and turned off the computer. We restart it and run System Preferences/Software Update and it just sits there saying checking for updates, It's been doing this for 10 minutes.
The current Safari updates for Catalina and Big Sur patch it.

A 2014 iMac cannot upgrade to Monterey. You don't want to install any antivirus app.
What she can do is download the Safari 15.6.1 update from System Preferences > Software update.
