Application-specific problem with new Epson printer
First, the background: Running an M1 Mac Mini, OS X Big Sur (most recent version). Just bought a new Epson XP-4105.
The printer appears to be connected my wi-fi network all right. It's also connected by USB. The nozzle checks print out just fine, so there are no hardware issues. The driver and the printer firmware both updated during the connection process, so the software should be up to date. Printing from Safari works fine, I was able to print out a couple of Epson-related things like the Epson Connect registration doc they sent me.
However — and this is a big "However" — when I try to print out documents from Pages or Acrobat Reader DC, the printer sounds like it goes through the motions of printing a few lines, but the pages comes out blank. It's as if the printer received a blank document.
Since this is a problem that is limited to certain applications, I'm guessing this is a software issue — either Epson's driver, or something with the Mac. Any insights? A printer is mostly useless to me if it won't play nice with my word processor, and if it won't print PDFs.
