Cannot open my apps. Screen bounces back to clock face.

This apple watch is updated to the current update. A few days ago, I wanted to view my apps. It keeps bouncing back to the clock screen immediately. I turned the watch off and restarted it again. That maneuver did not help. Any help would be much appreciated. I went to the watch app on my iphone, but could not find anything that seemed to be an issue with the watch. The watch is on a cellular Verizon plan. It is paired with my iphone.
