I'm making a slideshow with pictures of photos that needed to be edited. Once I edit a photo in my Photos app, and then imported to iMovie, it reverts to the original version of the photo. How can I make it stop doing that?

From the Photos app do a File/Export/Photo to your desktop and then drag it into iMovie from there.
You might also try, if you haven’t already, to import into iMovie from the Photos item in the sidebar of an iMovie project.
