Monterey OS workaround for old Epson printers

The printer set-up in Monterey OS doesn't see my Epson Stylus Photo 1400 or Epson Stylus Photo r280. I've tried the combo drivers from the Epson site but no luck. Both of my printers are in good working order and I don't want to trash them just to use the new laptop. Can anyone suggest a workaround?

If it is listed as AirPrint printer, delete the existing printer and add it again,

> System Preferences> Printers & Scanners, select AirPrint.

The last printer driver for the Stylus Photo 1400 was released in Nov 2020, and Epson offers that as a solution for macOS 12. If that driver does not work, this printer is not supported in Apple's AirPrint, and you will need to use either an older Mac, or a Windows platform for printing. The same linked driver is also suggested by Epson for your Stylus R280 on Monterey and the R280 is not supported by Apple's AirPrint either.
