Double-sided printing not working correctly

Printing from Preview onto an Epson WF printer.

It prints the back side upside down.

It doesn't matter whether I have it on long edge or short edge binding. It prints upside down both ways.

Thanks!

Hello katesvobodaspanbock,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

Let's review these settings:

"Print a document upside down

If you’re trying to print on material that you can’t insert into your printer in the direction you want, you can insert it in the opposite direction and then print your document upside down. For example, you can use this method to print on an envelope that won’t fit into the printer top first, or to print on unusually shaped paper.

  1. With a document open on your Mac, choose File > Print.
  2. If you see a Show Details button, click it to show more print options.
  3. Click the print options pop-up menu (at the top of the light gray box), then choose Layout."

More details can be found here: Print pages upside down or in reverse order on Mac

If the issue persists, can you provide a few more details? When did you first notice this? Also, what is your exact macOS version?

Cheers!

Hello, Omar -

Thanks for responding.

The numbered instructions listed are what I have been doing. It doesn't work.

That link also doesn't address my problem, which is that I'm trying to print a 4 page document on two pieces of paper, so that you can read them like a book.

The way that it prints is so that you have to turn the pages vertically. This is particularly a problem because what I am printing is a sort of checklist and the two pages need to be stapled, so, after you turn the page, you end up holding it with the staple at the bottom and it flops around.

I'm using 12.4.

It also happened about a month ago. At the time, I just figured that I had done it wrong and didn't bother to try and figure it out. I haven't tried to print double-sided since then until the other day.

Thanks!

We understadn

Check out the details here for printing two-sided pages: Print double-sided pages with your Mac

"Print double-sided pages with your Mac

You can print a document with double-sided pages if your printer is capable of printing to the front and back of a page.

Note: The following options might not be available for your printer or app. If these instructions differ from what you see onscreen, refer to the documentation that came with the app you’re using.

  1. With a document open on your Mac, choose File > Print, or press Command-P.
  2. The Print dialog opens, with a preview of your printed document. Click the arrows above the preview to scroll through the pages.
  3. The Print dialog shows a preview of your print job. Click the Show Details button to show more print options.
  4. Select the Two-Sided checkbox.
  5. Select any other print options you want to use.
  6. Click Print.

For more detailed information about printing options, see Set printing options for paper size, paper feed, and more.

You might see different options in the Print dialog depending on your printer and the app you’re using. If these instructions differ from what you’re seeing, check the documentation for the app you’re using by clicking Help in the menu bar."

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
