Are there ever reoccurring monthly charges on games on my iPhone?
Are there ever any reoccurring monthly charges that could occur on Iphone games my grandson wants me to ok? Or is the price I see just a one-time price?

If the game has a price showing outright, then that is a one time charge. If the game has a Get button, then its free to download, but may have a recurring subscription.
Either way, the game may have what are known as micro transactions to get in game itmes such gold or gems or other currency used within the game to do things.
You can look in the game’s information section for any in app purchases and recurring charges it may have.
For example:
This is a chess game, free to download, but has one in-game purchase to remove ads.:
This is a Dc Comics Game that costs money upfront, and then has other in-app purchases afterwards.
And has a ton of extra in-app purchases that can be bought multiple times, since they are consumable within the game.
