Mac Mail not working

I’m suddenly getting a message that (Mac) Mail wants to sign using key “private Key” in your keychain, with a space for a password. I’ve tried several passwords but none allows me to Always Allow, Deny or Allow. Help! I can’t send emails from my Mac!

MacBook Pro 17″, OS X 10.11

If there is an associated expired certificate in your Keychain.app try deleting
