Hello, I'm selling my computer and need to erase my information. I've followed all of the instructions but none will allow me to erase or go to factory settings?

My mac book pro is 2014. I have tried to follow all of the articles for erasing my computer when you want to sell it. But I can't seem to find the instructions that explain how to do this.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.15

When you follow the instructions, you do not use System Preferences. Follow below instead (this is from above article):

Use Disk Utility to erase an Intel-based Mac - Apple Support

After the download is finished, you do NOT install or set up aything. You shut down the Mac by pushing the power button. That way the buyer will get the set up screen.

Hello,

Yes, tried all that. When I go to system preference under the apple in the left corner it opens up all of the apps on my computer. ex: printer, fax machine, all of the things that are listed in my launch pad. I tried all the instructions that you sent also. No where can I find Factory reset or Erase.

thank you
