Apple tv subscription not working on the tv

I have a subscription for 8.99 a month to Apple tv+ and I have signed into Apple tv on the the tv through my apple id on my iPad, the issue is that the tv is not allowing me to watch any of my shows because it says I need to pay for a full subscription however I already have a subscription and it even shows this on the accounts tab - manage subscriptions on the tv help would be much appreciated thank you.
