iPhone XS Max microphone not working in phone calls

Hello

I have an iPhone XS Max with iOS 15.6. On an intermittent basis my microphone is not working in phone calls. The problem seems to be happening when I make phone calls - if I use Whatsapp to make an audio call the microphone seems to work.
